This week we have seen Jörg's meeting with YouTube bumped back to the 28th of March. Don't worry though, the reason for moving it back was to allow more time to go through Jörg's, entire list of questions. Really it is a good thing, it means more of our issues will be heard, Don't forget to take a look at Jörg's post on Facebook where he posted the questions and add any suggestions you think are relevant.

This week has been an amazing week. There have been 2 mentions of us in the media, an article on BR24 and a radio interview on rbb24, both in German but the BR24 article translates well. You can see a complete list of media mentions in the media page.
This week started with Jörg posting a draft letter to YouTube on the Facebook group, before he could finish it YouTube contacted him. This is massive. Most of us thought YouTube would need a big shove to even acknowledge our movement. For them to take the initiative and contact us first is a huge deal. It shows at the very least they take us seriously. Jörg has a meeting with Brandy Clegg, global head of monetization on Tuesday afternoon. While we must remain skeptical, this is a great start and it gets the ball rolling. Jörg has posted a list of questions aimed at Brandy and asked for feedback in the Facebook group, his post is here. I also want to highlight Jörg's post following the announcement of his meeting, as this highlights the fact that the union has no political leaning.

A massive step forward has happened. Youtube has contacted Jörg. He has spent the last day or so posting about a letter he is writing to formally introduce our movement to Youtube, they beat him to it and decided to get in touch. You can read his post here. This is a massive step forward. We do need to remember that Youtube recognising us only really represents getting the ball rolling, but it is still a massive step forward.

First let me thank everyone for their support of the Youtubers Union, and all the effort that has been put in so far. It has been amazing to see how this movement has grown. Most of all I want to thank Jörg Sprave for making all of this possible and getting the ball rolling when he posted his video calling content creators and Youtuber users to action. I cannot believe how fast numbers have grown. It has been just a week and the Facebook group is already sitting at around 10 thousand members. If you have not already seen Jörg's video then I recommend you check it out.

Jörg has asked me to pass on that there has been some more news coverage. Motherboard has published an article about our movement which can be found here. Please go take a look guys and make sure plenty of people see the article. Personally I think it is well written and gives an excellent account of the story so far so it is a great place to catch up anyone who is just joining.

Apologies for the inconvenience. A security change will force most of you to log back in. It will remember your login if you check the "remember me" box after that. This was necessary to improve the security of the website and won't be happening again, unforseen circumstances not withstanding.
